What's going on?

As we are in the beginning of a new year, I want to look back a bit what has happened in 2019 as well as give an outlook what will be happening in the upcoming months.

Last year I went back to my work at music school after maternity leave for the 2nd time and my daughter started kindergarten late in September so it was quite a tough year concerning my own work and needed a lot of organizational work and planning. The beginning was full with the production of the CD of our Children’s play “Ein Hut, ein Stock, ein Damenunterrock” and the crowdfunding that helped financing the whole thing and I was so happy that everything just worked out fine. We presented the CD in March and had a series of performances in WUK again.

During the summer I played a lot of musicals, in the countryside and rehearsing for Cabaret where I played a musician on stage at the Volksoper in Vienna. This piece had its premiere in September and we played 18 shows total in fall 2019. I enjoyed that work a lot and besides I am working on two big projects that will have their premiere in May and June 2020. The planning, some ideas and the writing of abstracts already happened in 2019 but now it will be time to do the real artistic work.

One piece is going to be part of the “Viertelfestival” in Lower Austria and is called “Buddeln, Baggern, Bauen”. It will be a piece dealing with the ground that we live on, the earth, soil, what grows, lives that, how man changes it and I create the piece with the fantastic artists Johanna Jonasch and Regina Picker. It has its premiere in May.

The other premiere has the title “Weiber” and is an ode to all the fantastic women that are around, very often in the background, not very much appreciated, but in my opinion are the real heroes of our world. I will write a song cyclus that deals with seven synonyms for women. The interpretation of these words can be ironic and the main goal is to have fun playing with my fellow (mainly female) musicians. It’s gonna be a real piece of jazz influenced by the music I like and enjoy a lot, containing written elements but still enough space for improvisation. The premiere will be in June 2020.

So I will be busy composing and rehearsing during the next months but also very much looking forward!
